Privacy Policy

Overview
Nuxera is a healthcare AI company. SERA is Nuxera's AI transcription assistant, available as a Chrome browser extension that records doctor-patient consultations, transcribes them, and automatically fills EMR/EHR form fields. This privacy policy applies specifically to the SERA browser extension and explains what data it collects and how Nuxera handles it.
Data We Collect
Authentication data
When you sign in, we store your email address, authentication token, and API key locally in Chrome's storage on your device. This data never leaves your device except to authenticate with Nuxera's servers.
Audio recordings
When you start a recording, audio is captured from your microphone and sent securely to Nuxera's servers for transcription by SERA. All audio is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS) and is not stored on our servers after transcription is complete.
Transcripts
The text transcript of each recording is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage. Transcripts are processed entirely by SERA, Nuxera's own AI assistant, for the purpose of mapping clinical information to form fields. All data in transit is encrypted.
Website content
The extension reads form field labels and structure from the active browser tab to identify fillable fields. Page content may be accessed locally to assist with matching transcript data to the correct fields.
How We Use Your Data
- Audio is used solely to produce a clinical transcript
- Transcripts are used solely to fill EMR/EHR form fields on the active page
- Authentication data is used solely to verify your identity with Nuxera's servers
- We do not use any data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to clinical documentation
Data Sharing
We do not share your data with any third parties. All processing, including audio transcription and clinical field mapping, is performed entirely within Nuxera's own infrastructure by SERA. We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to anyone outside of Nuxera.
Data Storage and Retention
All data (auth tokens, transcripts, sessions) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. You can delete all stored data at any time by signing out or clearing the extension's data from Chrome settings. We do not maintain a server-side database of your sessions or transcripts.
Health Information
This extension is designed for use by licensed medical professionals. Transcripts may contain protected health information (PHI). You are responsible for ensuring your use of this extension complies with applicable regulations including HIPAA or equivalent laws in your jurisdiction. Nuxera does not access, store, or process PHI on its servers beyond the immediate transcription request.
Your Rights
You may at any time:
- Sign out to remove all locally stored authentication data
- Clear all sessions from the Sessions tab in the extension
- Uninstall the extension to remove all stored data
